Ultra Analog Theme Packs. Funk and Disco Basses

Working on some Disco/Funk projects, I ended up with some quite efficient bass presets for Ultra Analog covering this musical realm.

All the presets are very simple and can easily be tweaked in order to better fit the style of a given musical piece. The first controls to start with are probably the cutoff and resonance of the filter (to adjust the timbre) and the envelope of the filter. They can be a good starting point for designing new bass presets too.

Disco family

The basis of those presets is a saw tooth waveform filtered with a fourth order low-pass filter. The Filter Envelope increases rapidly the cutoff frequency of the filter during the attack and let it fall down slowly after. The Amplitude Envelope consists of a fast attack and slow decay (which acts more like a release in in this case). Presets with the "Sub" suffix have a sine wave added to emphasize the fundamental frequency.

Funk family

Those presets are very close to the preceding set except that the modulation of the filter cutoff from the Filter Envelope is inverted, providing a more precise attack.

Raw family

hose are very simple monophonic bass sounds using rectangular waveforms, pulse width modulation, and hard synchronisation. The goal here was to get a retro sound.

Only family

There is not a lot of sound design here, except for the sound of the oscillator itself. I've included them because I found out that these sounds appear in a lot of tunes and can be very efficient.

String family

All those presets use the rectangular waveform having its pulse width modulated by the LFO that thanks to its reset mode, acts as an envelope. This setup provides sounds that are reminiscent of an electric bass.

Talk family

Those are a little "too much" but I didn't resist including them in the pack. The Filter Envelope modulates the Q (vowel) of the filter to simulate the effect of a vocoder.
